My first selfie was taken the day I went to visit the Doc – I saw a funny van and told mom it would be a great backdrop for a selfie! First of all, I want to send out bunches and bunches of thank yous and licks and happy kisses to all my purr pals and bark buds for sending me good wishes for my upcoming owie day. You all have made me feel so much better about it! I am not nearly as nervous as I was before!! My scheduled owie day is September 15. Mom pushed the date back because she wanted me to finish my transition to my new diet before the owie. More about that later. The good news is that even though night before and the morning of the owie I don’t get any food or water – the Felines don’t either! Mom says, one of us has to fast all of us have to fast. Hmmmm, I wonder if that means mom, too? If I suffer the Felines do to – especially the Orange Beast!! Haha! I really like Toby even though I pretend I don’t. What?!? You want me to eat what? Diet food? No more pedigreed? No more little ceasars?
Say it ain’t so!
You won’t believe what it is called – Natural Balance FAT DOGS. Can you believe it? A dog food named ‘Fat Dogs’???
It has stuff like chicken, salmon, garbanzo beans, peas, barley, oatmeal, beets, and other vegetables. And mom expects me to eat this? I don’t think so!
This is what I think of going on a diet: ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
It’s time for a nap. This whole diet business has worn me out!!
So I went to the doctor yesterday on account of I’ve gained weight and I have what mom calls a “wonky nippie.” The last time I went to a doctor it was just to a clinic where the doc does the basics and gives shots owies. This one was a real vet doctor – the one the Felines go to, and I have to tell you I didn’t like it – no, not ONE bit. Poked and prodded and things shoved into my ears, lights shined in my eyes – they even took some of my blood!! Horrors! And clipped my nails! Yikes! Oh – and here’s the worst part – I have to go back for surgery! Oh! Catch me, I think I’m gonna faint!! I don’t want to bore you with a bunch of words. Here’s some photos I took while there. This one I just found out I gained 2 pounds since February! Mom says it’s the snacks plus the Doc says I have a slow thyroid.

Me, wandering around dazed after I found out I have a mammary tumor and when the doc removes it she’s gonna spay me, too.
Doc says even though I’m going on 11 years old it would be better to be spayed – it will prevent some really nasty disease she described to mom. And besides – I’m not havin’ no babies!!!
I have to make sure mom is gonna be okay – she’s already gotten all teary-eyed at the thought of me “going under the knife!” I’ll just have to reassure her I will be okay!
So, since I have gained some weight, and I have a touch of pancreatitis, I have to go on a bland diet. Yuk! but it’s for my health. Mom saw the poster on pet obesity in the doc’s office and found a copy online for you to enjoy!! Oh, one more thing – the doc says I need bifocals to read and that I can’t drive at night. I think she’s saying I have some age-related vision loss. Is she calling me old?
It’s Sunday and that means mom is home all day and other than those felines who live in MY house, I get her all to myself! Bella and I talked this morning through the back window and decided we would be getting together later today to work on our tans. In the meantime, I’m working on my tan inside!!
