I’m celebrating Manatee Appreciation Day!!!
MANATEE APPRECIATION DAY
Having a lifespan of about 60 years, manatees are calm herbivores with no known natural enemies that spend most of their time eating, sleeping and traveling. These spectacular mammals have their day of honor each year on the last Wednesday in March, as people across the country celebrate Manatee Appreciation Day.
Manatees like slow rivers, canals, saltwater bays, estuaries and coastal areas. As a migratory species, they inhabit the Florida waters during the winter and move as far north as Virginia and as far west as Texas in the summer months.
The most significant challenge manatees face today is the loss of habitat. Currently, there are approximately 3,200 manatees living in the United States.
Simon is celebrating Little Red Wagon Day with his girlfriend Joanie!! He’s so happy she sent him 2 photos of her for him to gaze upon. (Simon did say that the scanner he used doesn’t show how beautiful her grey furs are.)
“Joanie – isn’t she beautiful!!!!” Simon sighs…
The last Wednesday in March is National Little Red Wagon Day. This is a day worthy of making memories and celebrating the power of imagination, as adults and children alike can enjoy time together with a little red wagon.
For nearly 100 years, Radio Flyer has been bringing smiles to kids of all ages and creating warm memories that last a lifetime. As a brand, Radio Flyer has always supported unstructured outdoor play and its positive impact on children. With their 100th anniversary on the horizon, Radio Flyer would like to establish a day that not only celebrates kids’ imaginations but the vehicles that help them explore it – their wagons.
This iconic toy is one of the most enduring toys of all time. For generations, children have led little red wagons down Independence Day parade routes, carried out countless imaginary missions and voyages of childhood fantasy. It is not unusual for a little red wagon to be handed down from one generation to the next, treasured like a family heirloom. The adventures are enjoyed by all, regardless of age.
HOW TO OBSERVE
As the weather gets warmer and spring officially begins, use National Little Red Wagon Day to encourage kids to get outside, get active and go wherever their imaginations take them. Use #LittleRedWagonDay and tag @RadioFlyer to share on social media.
HISTORY
National Little Red Wagon Day was founded by Radio Flyer in honor of their upcoming 100th anniversary. The Registrar of National Day Calendar declared National Little Red Wagon Day in 2016.
Enjoy Your day!!
I LOVE manatees, they’re one of my favourite animals!!! I have a manatee stuffed toy that’s shared my bedroom for the past 11 years, I’ll have to post a pic for Manatee Appreciation Day!

Having lived in Florida for 20 years we fell in love with manatee and especially enjoyed them when they converged in the winter months at Blue Springs and in Crystal River … the awesome gentle giants!

We didn’t know manatees had a special day. Joanie is blushing , but she is glad that Simon likes her photos and she enjoyed the wagon ride. We have a very old wagon like that in our basement. Penny, Millie and Joanie send kisses to Toby, BobbieSue and Simon.
