Heat Advisory and Friday Fill-ins!!!!!

First the super important stuff!!!

National-Heat-Awareness-Day-Last-Saturday-in-May-300x150Today is National Heat Awareness Day and I wanted to take a moment to remind humans to be careful of their pets in the heat! 0527a0527bYesterday when I posted photos of me outside, it was in the mid-80s. I had wanted to go outside earlier but mom said no because it was TOO HOT!!! Mom says if its too hot for her its too hot for me!! So these pictures of me are taken in the cooling part of a warm day – not during the hottest part of the day.

So if you go outside during the warm days of summer, make sure you go in the early morning before 9am or in the late afternoon, maybe after 5pm – or even later depending on the temperature!!!

To help you remember about heat and pets, I’ve included some infographics after the Friday Fill-ins!!!

Now for the FUN part!!!

It’s Friday Fill-in Time!!!!

The questions are in black, my answers are in purple!

  1. Whatever happened to the new harness mom promised me? I’m using BobbieSue’s – and it has her girly scent all over it which I don’t like!
  2. I always stay home on Memorial Day ( or your country’s equivalent) but mom goes to granmama’s for a cookout – except when she has to work (like this year).
  3. I used to wish I could live outside, but now that I am older, I realize how fortunate/blessed I am to have a happy home indoors!
  4. I just cannot get enough treats at treat time, no matter how much mom tries to stop BobbieSue  – she still scarfs her treats down like a dawg and then butts me out of the way to eat mine! She even ignores me when I hiss at her!!!

Back to National Heat Awareness Day!!!

Don’t worry – I’m really not on fire – its just for effect!!!!0527c

Now – everybody enjoy your summer!!!!!

  1. Here comes the heat! I sometimes go outside in the summer after the sun has passed to behind the house – because my front porch is then in the shade AND the concrete porch gets COOL! Nice on my tummy! We have lots of big trees around our yard so a lot of shade….still it can be super duper hot and I just don’t even ASK to go out when it’s like that. Stay inside in the cool – that’s my rule! Thanks for the super infographic – we need to be reminded of how badly heat effects us (and humans!). Love your fill-ins too!

    Hugs, Sammy

  2. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins . I love your answers, I am glad you realize indoor life is better. BobbieSue sounds just like Joanie, she is always trying to steal everyone’s treats and inhales hers like a vacuum cleaner. Your Mom is smart to make you wait until it is cooler to go outside. I love these infographics, I pinned them. Hope you all have a nice weekend although I am sure it will stink for your Mom having to work- I hope she gets double time. XO

  3. Thank you for the great reminder graphics about the dangers of heat for pets, I will share them! I am smiling about you sharing a harness, my four furkids have a few issues with the “cootie smells” of each other’s things too! 🙂 You are so right that a visit outside can be nice if done safely, but there is no place life the cozy comforts of home and a family to love you! We have to feed Toby separately from his three sisters or he will gobble up his food and then try to eat everyone else’s too! Sophie eats slowly so she gets her treats in her own room where she can take her time without them being stolen by sneaky siblings! 😉

  4. This is such good info to remind people about. I feel so bad for the pets left outside here in Southern California when it gets so hot out. And of course all the strays too. 😦 I’ve had to call on a neighbor before when they left their dog out all day in 100 degree weather! I just don’t get it. Again, thank you for the reminder.

  5. We don’t often get hot weather here but I know it is important not to go out in the sun if we do. I usually go under the hedge where it is nice and cool, or lie on the bathroom floor.

  6. Most excellent post! Mes knows it gets HOT HOT HOT in Midway, but mes don’t think it gets too hot in Vancouver…Me guesses mes will find out this summer.
    Thanks for the timely reminder!

  7. Great post and infographics. We always remind everyone about sunburn as well. Light-colored-fur cats and those with pink noses are especially at risk. These infographics are worth printing and hanging in a prominent place, especially if you have kids. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
