National Clerihew Day!

You’re asking “What the heck is Clerihew Day?????”, right? When mom first mentioned it I said she was crazy – but then she explained it and it sounded funny!!!

Clerihew Day is celebrating the Clerihew poem – created  in 1891 by Edmund Clerihew Bentley – is a funny poem that consists of 4 lines, rhyming couplets of AA/BB, the first line has the name of the person and the poem tells something funny about them.

So, combined with Sunday Selfies, here are our attempts at writing Clerihew’s!

The Mancat Toby

Wanted beef that was Kobe.

So off to Japan he flew

Before his human had a clue.

0710d

Not-so-simple Simon

Went to see a Pieman.

“Do you serve pies of Mouse?”

“Yes! I find them in my house!”

BobbieSue, a Southern Belle

Grew ill from so much smell

Of the many fragrant roses

Strewn at her feet by a tom named Moses.

MerryBelle was afraid

Of the mess she had made

When more treats she did seek

She toppled the bag at her human’s feet.

0710b

PeggySue’s middle name

Was Trouble and she did gain

A reputation for harassing

Any cat she was passing.

Have a fun Sunday!!!!!
