You’re asking “What the heck is Clerihew Day?????”, right? When mom first mentioned it I said she was crazy – but then she explained it and it sounded funny!!!
Clerihew Day is celebrating the Clerihew poem – created in 1891 by Edmund Clerihew Bentley – is a funny poem that consists of 4 lines, rhyming couplets of AA/BB, the first line has the name of the person and the poem tells something funny about them.
So, combined with Sunday Selfies, here are our attempts at writing Clerihew’s!
The Mancat Toby
Wanted beef that was Kobe.
So off to Japan he flew
Before his human had a clue.
Not-so-simple Simon
Went to see a Pieman.
“Do you serve pies of Mouse?”
“Yes! I find them in my house!”
BobbieSue, a Southern Belle
Grew ill from so much smell
Of the many fragrant roses
Strewn at her feet by a tom named Moses.
MerryBelle was afraid
Of the mess she had made
When more treats she did seek
She toppled the bag at her human’s feet.
PeggySue’s middle name
Was Trouble and she did gain
A reputation for harassing
Any cat she was passing.
Have a fun Sunday!!!!!
Now I have never heard of this day but it sure does seem like fun, and coupled with your selfies gives quite a new dimension! Purrs for a wonderful Sunday!

Oh those are MAGNIFICENT Clerihews! I’ve not heard of the poetic form so you’ve taught me something NEW! Hmm…maybe I can do one about being a polydactyl cat who loves bacon?????
The ginger cat named Sammy
Prefers bacon over hammy
He’s old but he’s no dummy
Has paws complete with “thumbies” !
Love and Hugs Sammy

These are great! I wish I was a better poet, so I could make some up about Choppy and Schooner (well, ones that would make sense – I am sure I could easily make up something that doesn’t make sense, even as a bad poet).
