Friday Fill-ins from the Sues!

Welcome to Friday Fill-ins from the Sues – That’s BobbieSue and PeggySue!

1. I wish  mom  would bring back opening cans of tuna for treats!tuna-can

2. An act of kindness that I do often is  reminding mom to feed my feral buddy Baxter every morning and night. When I was on the mean streets (not so long ago) he kept me company, protected me and snuggled with me. But he absolutely refuses to come anywhere near mom when she goes outside to talk to him and feed him. I wish he would come closer so he would know the wonders of people love. (It’s not a good photo – but it was taken at 4 am and he’s solid black and camera shy!)IMG_3660

3.  I still have fears of loud noises, thunderstorms and people leftover from my childhood kittenhood on the mean streets of Savannah,  Georgia.052810d This photo was taken the day after my surgery to remove my tail. I was very sick and very tiny!

4.  If I didn’t have my big brofur Toby, I’d be completely lost.0708 b (2)

Chef Toby will be here tomorrow for something extra-special for King Sammy of Baconia!!!!

Throwback Thursday!!!

Here’s some old photos for Throwback Thursday.

0825dThis is Agnes when she was a kitten. Mom called her Baby Agnes her entire life – even when she was 12 years old!

0825cThis is M.C. Mom found him where she worked – she worked in a nursing home kitchen and when she was putting the trash out in the morning M.C. wandered up and was very friendly. She told him if he came back in the afternoon she’d take him home (she had been feeding him a couple of days). He came back in the afternoon, literally leaped into her arms so she brought him home. She figured he was dumped by someone. He was only with her for a year or so before he went to the Bridge.

0825a0825bThese two pictures are spring 2014 when Piper was still with us. She was watching out the window when I tried to muscle in on her spot. She schooled me well. I left her to the window and took a nap on mom’s bed.

See you tomorrow for Friendly Friday Fill-Ins!

I’ve got a hole in my fur!!

Mom attacked me with a pair of scissors!!!!

Not really, but that’s what it felt like – for the last 3 or 4 days – every time I’m snoozing on my back she sneaked – snook – snuck – oh- whatever – you get what I mean – with some scissors to cut this massive mat of tangled fur off my body! I have to admit it was bothering me – it was right below my mane – and it was pulling on me. It was so big she could only cut it out a little at a time because it bugged me so much her close to me with sharp thing! But when she finally got it out, what did she do? She took a photo of course!!!! 0824cSee my pink skin under the fur? And how much of my luxurious fur is missing? It’s not stylish and it was traumatizing but mom was very careful and took her time especially when I was squirmy.

After the trauma, there was much cuddling with mom!0824a

Here I am on her shoulder with her taking a selfie of me!0824bIt’s not a great photo, but then, I was traumatized!! (Mom’s telling me not to be so dramatic!!)

See you tomorrow for Throwback Thursday!!

BobbieSue Reporting…

Reporter BobbieSue small BobbieSue reporting today – it’s been a while since my last report – not much to report on around here! But for those of you who find reptiles off-putting – this is your one warning!! No worries -my story’s not about snakes – but dragons!! Komodo Dragons to be exact.

The story starts several years ago with a male Komodo  Dragon named Teman who lives at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Museum.

57b7449976d09.imageThis is Teman – he’s a big guy, isn’t he? Well it seems male dragons live for 60 years and and can grow up to 10 feet and weigh up to 330 pounds! Unfortunately they are also endangered in the wild so there are breeding programs in certain zoos, or, in this case, aquariums.

5748a96d685c5.imageSo a couple of years ago a female dragon named Jude moved in (she was on loan from San Antonio) and she and Teman tried a couple of times for babies but it never happened. Then in June she became deathly ill and had to be euthanized.

The staff at the aquarium were so devastated they left her enclosure alone. Then, surprise, surprise, on August 18 two baby dragons popped their heads up in Jude’s old enclosure!!!57b6fe8128cc3.imageThe staff had no idea that Jude had laid a clutch of eggs before her unfortunate death in June! Out of 18 eggs only two hatched so far (the rest are in an incubator but the staff don’t think they’ll hatch).

57b7449a2d745.imageThe babies are off display right now being watched over like the true treasures they are!

57b6fe80bd4c1.imageMother Jude evaded the aquarium’s cameras that monitored her 24-7, dug down two feet and then tunneled under her exhibit to hide her eggs. And there they lay, slowly maturing for 7 months!!!

Komodo Dragons are considered “Vulnerable” on the endangered list because of human encroachment and the reproductive problems of the female dragons. We are grateful these two babies survived against all odds!!57b6fe8100096.image

It’s probably too early to tell their gender, but they sure are cute!!!!

I found this story in The Virginian-Pilot and all photos are by The’ N. Pham.

Please go HERE to read more about it online!

Please go HERE to read more about Komodo Dragons on National Geographic!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my news report – even if it wasn’t about cats!!!!

See you next time when I’ll have more news to report – whenever that is!!!

Napping while mom works

Mom spent a lot of time this weekend working on one of her current art projects. I decided to take a nap right in the middle of all her work. My pillow is part of her altered book project for the Weekly Weather Challenge she’s participating in over at Orange Marmalade Press. This is her page for this Saturday coming up -Freezing Rain. If you want to know more about it, click on the logo below!!
