A Very Fuddles Christmas
Frans Vischer, author and illustrator
Aladdin, Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing Division, 2013
From the dust jacket, “’Twas the holiday season of treasures and treats. But Fuddles the cat only wanted to eat…and open his presents, then sit down and play. But that’s not what happened on one Christmas day. Frans Vischer, the artist, makes merry good cheer celebrating the jolliest time of the year. His story’s a gift, all shiny and new. Merry Christmas to all—from Fuddles to you!”
I laughed all the way through this adorable cat Christmas book!! Fuddles is fat and spoiled and, quite by accident, almost spoils Christmas day for his humans. But they soon forgive him and treat him like the king he is. Any cat’s pet humans will recognize themselves and their master in Fuddles’ story. We cats are exceptionally smart—and funny—creatures and Fuddles represents us well. The text is large and sparse so early readers will have no problem with reading it. And if they do, the funny illustrations will tell the story without words. Mom said it reminded her of the first Christmas Angel Baby Agnes was with her many years ago. I hope you get a chance to read this one, you’ll certainly enjoy it!
