Come fly with me!

0522aLike many of my other blogosphere friends we are honoring Sammy, King of Baconia, from OneSpoiledCat, today. On his way to the Rainbow Bridge today Sammy made a whirlwind tour of many places where his many friends live. He visited me this morning in Virginia Beach, Va!

First, you stopped by mom’s work – I wasn’t even awake then!welcome-sammy

Later in the morning I met you at Mount Trashmore. Weird name, right? Its really a mountain (well, hill really) made of trash. It’s the old city dump repurposed back during the 70’s. Mount Trashmore 2 is in the making but it won’t be ready for a few more years and will be twice as big as this one. That round thing on the side of the mountain is the city seal.mt-trashmore

king-neptuneThen I took you to the beach – no trip to my city is complete without a trip to the ocean! I introduced you to King Neptune – but as you found out, he looks fierce but he bowed in humble gratitude that the Supreme King Sammy of Baconia would deign to visit him in his humble abode by the Atlantic Ocean. Remember he offered you the sea turtle he’s holding, but you wisely declined as you have a lot of other places to visit today and your balloon would hold the extra weight!

Well, our time together has drawn to a close. I’m so glad you came to visit my city and so glad you came into my life. Sammy, you brought joy and laughter and quite a few greenie badges to me and the Wrecking Crew. We will miss you so much but we know we will see you again. When you get to the Bridge, please tell Piper I miss her so much and tell LadyBird how much mom still misses her.  We love you and fly free forever, beloved King Sammy.

I want to Share My World…

My mom likes to participate in a lot of photo challenges over at Cee’s Photography Blog so I thought I would participate in her Share Your World Post.

Here are the questions:

What’s your favorite charitable cause and why?

Norfolk SPCA It’s the Norfolk SPCA. I support them whenever I can. They are a No-Kill shelter and I love that.

What color do you feel most comfortable wearing?

PINK!  I Love pink – even if my everyday collar is red. Mom just got me two new collars with pink on them. I can’t wait to wear them!

If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? (guest can be dead, alive, famous or someone you just know)

I would interview the following:

albert Albert from Albert’s New York blog. He has the most interesting posts about New York City!

GolNaran-a

Gol Naran from the blog of the same name. She has the most beautiful art work I’ve ever seen!

ladybird and gAnd of course my beloved (and internet shy) Grandmama! Love ya, G!

List:  What are at least five places you’ve enjoyed visiting?

Mount Trashmore Park, Great Bridge Lock Park, Pet Expo in Hampton, my Aunties’ house in Currituck County, North Carolina

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for my mom!!

Mom and me!

Mom and me!

I got to see a bridge lift!!

Okay, here’s part two of my visit to to the Great Bridge Lock Park! Did you know that bridges can break in two, split apart and lift up? I didn’t know that! Apparently they do that when boats that are too tall want to go under. Well, here are some more photos!  Enjoy them!! Barkingly yours, LadyBird

This is the fishing boat that was too tall to go under the bridge. It has these two long arms that hold nets - you can't see them - they are hidden by the trees. I still want to be a boat dog one day!

See how tall the boat is with those net arms? And just look at the bridge! My goodness! It was so exciting!

Now you can see both halves of the bridge. What an amazing thing. I didn't know there was such a thing in the world!! Look how small the boat seems now!

After the bridge lift we got into the car and turned the ac on full blast - it was so hot! Mom has promised me a special treat! I wonder what it could be? You'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out!!

I’m back!!

I must apologize for missing you guys the past few days! It has been a week today since I’ve been able to post anything. I blame it all on my mom (aka secretary). She says “never-mind” and just be glad I’m back today! I wanted to share with you my adventure to a local park, The Great Bridge Lock Park in Cheaspeake. It will be several posts so please come back after today! We went with my Granmama last Saturday and though the day as beautiful, it was hot!! Afterward we all had a special treat! I hope you enjoy my Saturday!  See you soon!  Barkingly yours, LadyBird.

This is a picture of the waterway looking toward the drawbridge. It's a part of the Intracoastal Waterway where my mom says she thinks you can travel the entire East Coast of the U.S. without going out into the ocean! Sounds like fun!

This pictures shows an off shoot of the waterway where there are condos with all sorts of boats parked right out side their back doors! How would you like to have a boat in your back yard ready to sail on a moment's notice? I think it would be cool to be a boat dog!

Oh boy! I got to see a couple of giant birds! Mom says they are Canada Geese, but they just look giant to me. I couldn't get that close to them because mom said if I fell in she wouldn't go in after me! (I'm sure she was just kidding!) I really like this picture because it shows the blue sky mixed with the dark water ripples.

And finally one of me. It shows you how hot I was! After mom took this picture we sat down for awhile and she gave me some water to cool off. Tomorrow I will show you the bridge lift! it was so cool! Bye until then!!

I went to Pugapalooza!

PictureBella and I went to Pugapalooza this last Saturday! Thankfully we weren’t the only non-pugs there! I’ve got some photos I took – mostly of dogs, that’s all I was really interested in! But we had a nice day – even if it started out terrible! Here’s the rundown of our very busy day: 1. Pet Supplies Plus to have nails done (yikes!); 2. Starbucks for puppy lattes; 3. getting lost in Norfolk trying to find the dog park; 4. stopping by Norfolk SPCA for directions 5. We finally made it! 6. Mom tries a tutu on me (thank goodness it didn’t fit!) but doesn’t buy it;7. We walk all around the ‘world’ and I get accosted by pugs everywhere until I plead with mom to hold me; 8. we finish up by watching a training session on how to teach your dog to “come” when called. I ignored it. 9. We go see mom’s work. 10. We go to Bea Arthur dog park on the river but it is packed with big dogs so we keep on going; 11. we stop to take pictures of the baby geese; 12. we stop by the grocery store to pick up some garlic bread for dinner at Granmama’s. Bella’s mom went inside and Bella climbed on my mom and I had to discipline Bella about staying off my mom’s lap. 13. We make it to Granmama’s where after dinner I collapse on the couch and sort of sleep until we finally go home. 14. I sleep through breakfast Sunday morning and don’t wake up til lunch time! Whew! What a day!

Thank you mom for not buying me a tutu. This big pink bow is bad enough!

pugs, frenchie, sheltie, labrador (?) just a few of the many dogs that were there - thankfully most were smallish!!

Can we go home, mom? I'm exhausted!
