National Feral Cat Day

Today is National Feral Cat Day and even though I wasn’t feral, I live with two cats who were – or at least they were semi-feral. Simon was rescued from the street more than 11 years ago – he’s been living with my mom for 9 of those years. BobbieSue was born to a feral mom and was the only one of her litter to survive. She was born under mom’s house when she lived in Savannah and mom grabbed her one afternoon when she saw BobbieSue’s tail rotting off – literally. She took her to the vet the next day and poor BobbieSue, at such a tender age of 6 weeks had her tail removed. The vet said it had gangrene and she would have died a painful death if mom hadn’t caught her. Mom doesn’t know how her tail was injured but she was glad to save her. The collage mom made shows BobbieSue the day after mom picked her up from the vet – she went to work with her! The other cats are former feral/feral cats that lived in Savannah behind a store where the owners were looking after them. We support TNR and hope you do to!!! Do you have a feral cat colony in your area? Do you know a feral cat?  Purringly yours, Toby.
