My trip to the vet’s

So I went to the doctor yesterday on account of I’ve gained weight and I have what mom calls a “wonky nippie.” The last time I went to a doctor it was just to a clinic where the doc does the basics and gives shots owies. This one was a real vet doctor – the one the Felines go to, and I have to tell you I didn’t like it – no, not ONE bit. Poked and prodded and things shoved into my ears, lights shined in my eyes – they even took some of my blood!! Horrors! And clipped my nails! Yikes! Oh – and here’s the worst part – I have to go back for surgery! Oh! Catch me, I think I’m gonna faint!! I don’t want to bore you with a bunch of words. Here’s some photos I took while there. They aren’t very good cause I was nervous. But I hope you like them anyway. Barkingly Yours, LadyBird

This one I just found out I gained 2 pounds since February! Mom says it's the snacks plus the Doc says I have a slow thyroid.

This is the waiting room and that big dog is named Zoe. Run, Zoe, run far and fast!

Me, wandering around dazed after I found out I have a mammary tumor and when the doc removes it she's gonna spay me, too.

Doc says even though I'm going on 11 years old it would be better to be spayed - it will prevent some really nasty disease she described to mom. And besides - I'm not havin' no babies!!!

I have to make sure mom is gonna be okay - she's already gotten all teary-eyed at the thought of me

I have to make sure mom is gonna be okay – she’s already gotten all teary-eyed at the thought of me “going under the knife!” I’ll just have to reassure her I will be okay!

So, since I have gained some weight, and I have a touch of pancreatitis, I have to go on a bland diet. Yuk! but it's for my health. Mom saw the poster on pet obesity in the doc's office and found a copy online for you to enjoy!!

Mom saw the poster on pet obesity in the doc’s office and found a copy online for you to enjoy!! Oh, one more thing – the doc says I need bifocals to read and that I can’t drive at night. I think she’s  saying I have some age-related vision loss. Is she calling me old?

  1. Tell your Mom you will be OK because you have the power of the prayer and you will have lots of purrs from all your kitty friends too. She is smart to have you fixed because I have heard of that awful uterus problem that can be deadly. Sorry you have to go on a bland diet- that stinks. Please keep us posted so we can pray extra hard the day of surgery. Sending you and your Mom lots of love and hugs too.

    • Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Back in the day mom almost lost one of her favorite babies to that awful disease and she didn’t want to repeat that trauma!! I’ll keep you posted. And thank you for my pretty badge!!

  7. Yeah, these humans throw that word “old” around for us, but try and use it for them and you’ll get your mouth washed out with soup. Wait, not soup — soap!

We are glad you have a positive attitude about the surgery. A dose of positive goes a long way! Be well.

  8. Our dearest, sweet LadyBird. It makes us so sad to hear that you need surgery. This same thing happened to our humans’ little dog who was not spayed. The mammary tumors are quite common in unspayed woofies. That doesn’t make it any better. We are going to be purring and praying for you 24/7 until your surgery is finished, you are healed and in good health again. Sorry about the weight gain and pancreatitis and slow thyroid as well. Mom says that it sucks to get old. You have become a good friend, and we love you! Get better really soon. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
